General Questions
For years, we’ve kept our registration fees steady because affordability matters. But beginning Fall 2025, player fees will increase to reflect the real costs of running youth sports.
Expenses like league fees, insurance, and uniform production have continued to rise. To protect the quality of your child’s experience, on the field and behind the scenes, this adjustment is necessary and overdue.
As a nonprofit, we don’t charge more than we need. Every dollar goes back into the players, the park, and the programs that make CBGC a trusted part of this community.
As a nonprofit, the Clinton Boys and Girls Club (CBGC) is committed to keeping fees as low as possible while delivering safe, high-quality programs. Every dollar goes directly into running the club and maintaining Clinton Sports Park.
CBGC relies on volunteers to manage, coach, and organize all sports programs. Our Sports Park is managed entirely by volunteers and contracted services.

The gate typically opens at 5:30 PM on weekdays during the active season. It closes approximately 20 minutes after the last scheduled practice, usually around 8:00 PM.
On game days, the field opens 1 hour before the first scheduled game and closes 30 minutes after the final game of the day.
Please note: CBGC is a volunteer-run organization, and while we strive to keep gates open on time, occasional delays may occur. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our volunteers work hard to support a safe and organized environment for all families.
No. Pets are strictly prohibited at the fields. This policy is enforced to protect the safety and health of all participants and attendees.
There are no exceptions.
Pets can pose safety risks, trigger allergies in children and spectators, and create distractions during games and events. For the well-being of everyone, individuals who bring pets will be asked to leave the premises.

- Summer Season: Typically begins in late March (varies by sport)

- Basketball practices are held at various school and private gym facilities throughout Prince George's County
Practice days and times are coordinated based on the availability of our volunteer coaches and may vary by program and team.
While we do our best to accommodate siblings with the same practice days, we cannot guarantee all requests due to scheduling constraints.
Each league releases game schedules at different times-some may post 1-2 days before the first game, while others release schedules 1-2 weeks in advance. As soon as we receive the official schedule, it will be uploaded to your team's communication app. Coaches and Team managers will notify families of any changes or updates.
You will only hear from the coach after workouts are complete and your child has been officially assigned to a team. During the workout period, players may be grouped with different age levels or coaches for evaluation. Until then, communication comes from the Sports Director or Athletic Director. Once assigned, all team communication will be sent through our official team app.
Most leagues include 1st place and runner-up trophies or medals as part of the league entry fee. These awards are distributed after the playoffs or championship games.

Participation Policies
For safety and accountability, a parent or designated guardian must be present during all practices and games.
If a parent cannot attend, another responsible adult must be assigned to stay on-site and be available in case of emergencies. Coaches and staff are not responsible for supervising children outside of official practice or game times.
Parents/guardians must provide consent for their child to participate in CBGC programs. This includes certifying the child’s physical fitness and agreeing to hold CBGC personnel harmless in case of injuries.
Prohibited Items at Clinton Sports Park
The following are prohibited:
- Pets (except documented service animals)
- Artificial noisemakers (e.g., megaphones, cowbells)
- Alcohol
- Tobacco
- Firearms (in compliance with Maryland law)
Special Requests and Refunds
As a rule of thumb, CBGC maintains a no-refund policy to ensure fairness and consistency for all participants while supporting effective resource planning. Once a player registers, CBGC incurs costs for resources and facilities, regardless of whether the player completes the season.
Refunds will not be issued for the following:
- Illness, injury, or personal emergencies.
- Scheduling conflicts or over-commitment.
- Missed practices or games.
- Weather-related cancellations.
- Team/coach/player placement requests.
- Disciplinary suspensions or expulsions.
Injury Exception: If a player suffers a season-ending injury during CBGC activities (e.g., tryouts, preseason workouts, practices, or games) before the first official game, CBGC will issue credit toward a future season. A doctor's note is required and must be submitted within 14 days of the injury.
- If the injury occurs within the first two weeks after the first official game, a partial credit (up to 50%) may be issued based on timing and severity.
- No credit will be granted for short-term injuries or injuries occurring later in the season.
- Credit must be used during the following season, or they will expire.
Program/Division Cancellation Exception: If CBGC or the league cancels a full program or division due to low enrollment after registration closes, the following options will be offered:
- Option 1: A credit for a future season. The credit will renew for another season if a team is still unable to be formed.
- Option 2: a refund, minus a $50 administrative fee
If a refund is approved and the original payment was made by credit card or debit card, the amount (minus applicable fees) will be returned to the same card.
Please allow 7-10 business days for processing.
Submitting a Request: All refund or credit requests must be submitted in writing to the Sport Director and cc’d to the Registrar. A decision will be made within 15 business days.
Weather and Field Conditions
CBGC evaluates weather conditions in coordination with our Facilities Manager and Athletics team, specifically for activities hosted at Clinton Sports Park. While we consider M-NCPPC field closures, final decisions are made internally by our club.
If lightning or thunder is present, activities will be delayed by 30 minutes, with each new occurrence resetting the delay.
All updates regarding practice and game cancellations or field closures will be communicated through your official team communication app.
Because our staff is volunteer-based and many hold full-time jobs, we aim to post updates no later than 4:15 pm on weekdays.
Very Important: If you do not hear from us, or see any announcements, that means your practice, game or clinic is still ON!
CBGC serves as the league for intramural programs only. For teams participating in external leagues, game schedules, and make-up decisions are managed by those leagues. They do their best to accommodate reschedules, but make-up games are not guaranteed, and no refunds are issued for weather-related cancellations.
