USYS/MSYSA Recreation Soccer Age Limit Clarification
MSYSA and USYS are governed by US Soccer. As a member of these governing bodies, CBGC must comply with the rules and regulations of US Soccer, MSYSA, and USYS.
Intramural Clinton Development League (ICDL): The in-house development Program is where all players under the age of 5 starts. It runs from ages 3 through 5. Players must be 3 years of age by April 1st (For the Fall Season) and 3 years old by August 1 (For the Spring Season). It is our only in-house program, and the focus of the program is on having fun, being active, and learning soccer skills. Players have one to two practices each week and games tentatively on Saturdays (with occasionally Sunday)
County Level: The CBGC County program places teams in the Prince George’s County Boys & Girls Club league (PGCBGC). PGCBGC hosts teams for players aged 5 and older (U6 and up) during the spring and fall seasons. Players have two practices each week and games are played on both Saturday and Sunday.
*** 6U Players will be evaluated by the Commissioner for placement within County Level or our ICDL League****
Academy Level: The CBGC Academy program places teams in various leagues across the DMV. The leagues are home to both all-boys and all-girls teams aged 8 and older (U8 and up) during the spring and fall season. Teams will have the opportunity, based on season, to attend up to one tournament to introduce the next level tier (travel) for players and parents.
Travel Level: The Clinton Boys and Girls Club (CBGC) travel soccer program is a competitive level of youth soccer. Levels of competition depend on the league played in and the division. Levels range from competitive with modest skills to highly competitive. Teams are formed through a process of tryouts by coaches or may be formed directly by CBGC as the need exists. CBGC participates in the EDP league for travel team.
All travel teams demand a great level of commitment from both players and their parents. Travel players should expect more intense training, longer traveling to games and tournaments, and higher team fees. Players are expected to attend ALL games and all practices - accounting for illness, school requirements, and so on.
*Strongly recommend all players attend mandatory clinic for appropriate placement into one of the above levels**
Practice Schedule
Practices are days are determined by each team once assigned at minimum 2 days per week.. Practices are 60 to 90 minutes depending on the age of the players and generally start at 6:00pm or 6:30pm.
